Starglen Lodge is also only minutes from Lake Eildon and 40 minutes from major Ski Resorts such as Mt. Stirling and Mt. Buller making Starglen an ideal place to relax between activities in the surrounding areas.

STARGLEN LODGE ACTIVITIES

StarglenLodge is a fully equipped conference resort “with a difference”. Situated on 450 acres of virgin bush at the foothills of the Strathbogie ranges it introduces the visitors to the age-old peace, tranquility and majesty of the beautiful Australian Bush. A stay at Starglen Lodge can be a relaxing, restful retreat or full of adventure. Simply, it can be what you want it to be, the leisure lifestyle, or an action packed time of experiencing and enjoying a vast range of activities.
 
SKIING
Only 1 hour away from the summits of Mt. Buller and Mt. Sterling. Starglen is an ideal base from which to enjoy both alpine and cross country skiing. A day on the slopes, with transfers, ski hire and entrance fee included, can be arranged as the ideal “wind up” for your winter conference. Costs are Dependant on mountain rates each season. Advance bookings are essential in order that optimal arrangements for your group can be made.
 
 
HIKING AND BUSHWALKING
Starglen offers a full range of hikes and walks. With the resort's own land plus adjacent National Park to explore, you can plan your walk ranging from one to two hour easy marked trails to adventurous all day hikes into the heart of the Strathbogie Ranges. You can see Australian flora and fauna in its natural habitat, or be intrigued by a visit to the old “Star of the Glen” goldmine, the “Hermits Lair”, or the “Pixie Tree”.
 
FOUR WHEEL DRIVING
If walking a little too strenuous for your taste, consider bringing your own four-wheel drive. And experience the most magnificent views.
 
 
Motor bike/ Dirt Bike Riders
For all frill seekers, bring your dirt bike and enjoy the day exploring the exciting trails Starglen Lodge has to offer.
Starglen lodge has 450 acres of private property to ride on.  We also back on to the Strathbogie Ranges. There are heaps of trails, ranging from Medium to hard.
Bring your 4wd, trail bike, Mountain bike, buggy, 4x4 and ride on our private property. (450 acres). Trails range from Medium - Hard.
(Bring your own dirt bike,buggy etc. We do not supply them).
Riders must have motor bike Recreational Registration. 
Please note: Starglen Lodge does NOT take any responsibility for riders. All motor activities are at the risk of the rider.
We encourage that all riders must have all the protective gear. And ride in a responsible and proper manner. Riders MUST have motor bike license and Recreational Reg..
Cost: $15 per bike to ride on Starglen Property.
 
 
FISHING AND WATER SPORTS
Starglen's proximity to Lake Eildon, Lake Nillahcootie and the Goulburn, Howqua and Delatite Rivers make it an ideal base for lake, river and fly fishing. You can even throw a line in our lake and see if the “reddies” are biting.

SWIMMING, SPA AND SAUNA
Starglen's Large, in ground swimming pool, two wading pools, out-door spa and a modern sauna are situated directly in front of the motel units, providing an ideal place to relax and watch the world go by. But beware! If you are out at dusk, chances are that Wanda, our resident wombat will come for a cuddle- or you maybe jumped over by a kangaroo looking for its muesli bar!
 
ORIENTEERING
Starglen's450 acres are crossed by a number of orienteering courses ranging from the short and easy to the challenging and difficult. The courses travel through thick bush, steep slopes and beautiful valleys, and are well marked. Maps are provided, but if you are still unsure, the “emergency whistle” will ensure a timely rescue.
 
TENNIS AND VOLLEYBALL
There is two, hard-surface courts one of them tennis and the other volleyball close to Starglen's main building for those who would like to practice their serve and volley. Racquets and balls are available from reception upon request.
 
TABLE TENNIS
Is available for enjoyment and relaxation in Starglen's games room, adjacent to the bunkhouse. Bats and balls are available from reception upon request.
 
BILLIARDS
A pool table is located next to the lounge in Starglen's main building. Balls, cues and chalk and triangle are provided upon request. And while you play, you can enjoy your favourite drink too.
 
TV, VIDEO, DVD
Alarge screen TV is situated in the main lodge and available for use by guests any time the main lodge is open. In the cabinet below the TV is a selection of videos and DVD for use by guests.
 
MAGAZINES AND BOOKS
A selection of magazines and books are also available at the main lodge. Guests are welcome to take these out by the pool, to their rooms or sit in front of the fire and read them. We ask these be returned where they come from when you are finished as they go soggy in the rain.
 
GAMES
A selection of games and toys are available in the main lodge. As some of these games have small pieces parents will need to supervise young children when in this room.
 
OPEN FIRE
As we are probably more used to the local conditions the fire may not always be going however as the fire is there for your warmth and enjoyment please ask should you require it lit at any time. As the area around the fire can get hot we request guest to seek the assistance of staff should more wood be required.

Kaz & Baz
GOLF
Mansfield boasts an excellent, well maintained 18 hole golf course with magnificent views to Mt. Buller and surrounding country side. For dedicated golfers, this is less than 20 minutes away by car, and transport can be arranged on request. Golf clubs and buggies are available for hire at the course, and the Golf Club now has poker machines for those who would like a little “flutter” while experiencing the 19th hole.   
 
BOATING, CANOEING AND WATER SPORTS
Only 10 kilometers away, almost at Starglen's front gate, is Bonnie Doon. Situated on the northern tip of Lake Eildon, it is a paradise for water enthusiasts. Starglen can organize water skiing, jet skiing or canoe hire for fishing.
 
HOT AIR BALLOONING
This is an experience which you will not quickly forget. Picture yourself floating gently and peacefully across the land laid out in miniature for your inspection patch work of colors and patterns. Time seems to stand still as you are suspended between earth and sky.
Weather permitting, take off is at dawn and flights, ranging from 30-60 minutes, are followed by a lavish hot breakfast on your return to Starglen. Costs for this unique adventure are available at reception.

ABSAILING AND WHITE WATER RAFTING
Bothsports are available close to Starglen. All day or half- day trips can be arranged through the resort. Prior booking are essential but can only be made for groups of 4 or more.

 Horse riding is also available upon request through Watson's Mountain Country Trail Rides in Mansfield

ANIMAL SANCTUARY
Starglen's ducks, geese, chickens, rooster, pee cocks, guinea fowl, sheep, goat, cow and Alpacas enjoy people and wander freely around the property. Our dwarf rabbits are kept caged for their own protection against marauding foxes and feral cats, but just love to be cuddled and petted. Bird life is abundant and, apart from the few sulphur-crested cockatoos and galahs in Starglen's aviaries fly freely around the property. Rosellas, kookaburras, galahs, wily wagtails and magpies abound and, although wild, will (with patience) even feed from your hand.
Wanda, Starglen's resident wombat is also wild and very protective of her territory,but can be seen at dawn and dusk wandering between her burrow under the restaurant and motel rooms. Wild Kangaroos and wallabies abound and come to feed at dusk each day in the home paddock at the back of the main building.
 
PET POLICY
Rooms1-5 are pet friendly accommodation with pets free to wander between the roomand the outdoor area provided (although we ask dogs not be allowed to sleep onthe beds).
Around the main Lodge area (pool, BBQ, etc) pets must be under effective control (leash or voice depending on training) at all times. The onus is on the pet's owner to ensure livestock and guests are not bothered. Dogs are not permitted in the Alpacas paddock.
Once away from the lodge area dogs may be walked off leash. Please take care as if your dog takes off after wildlife they may not return.
 
SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted in the rooms, main lodge are, sauna or pool and spa are.Please ensure that your cigarette butts are correctly placed ashtrays provided-especially during the dryer months.
 
ANIMAL FEEDING
Little ones (or the young at heart) are invited to join in hand feeding the animals at 9 am each morning. The meeting point to undertake the activity is in the car park outside the reception.
 
 
CHECK OUT
Our check out time is 11am, however you most welcome to stay and enjoy Starglen's facilities for the remainder of the day. If your room has no incoming guests free late check out can be arranged through reception.
